rain domes
in the woods of giant rhododendron trees
two rain drops land and join
between them a space blossoms with rain puddles
Rain Domes form a pair of energy-efficient, low-carbon timber building nestled in a dramatic slope through the woods amongst a cluster of giant Rhododendrons. South and west-facing windows frame the views across the treetop of surrounding, landscapes, rooting users into nature. Copper and stepped green roofs amplify the rippling rain travelling down the curving seams, delivering it into the central courtyard that becomes a reflecting pool. Rain’s rhythm is celebrated with the radiating pattern of rain petals in each delicate recessed ground. The unique biometric coffered timber domes have been designed to weave into the exuberant topography, southern light, rain, and blossoms.
